Las Vegas Repeater Association

Membership Discussion

A prospective LVRA member needs to be sponsored by a person who has been a member in good standing for at least one year. It is important to get to know a current member to learn what our club is about. We are always interested in attracting people who are active in ham radio and willing to make a contribution to the hobby and our club in some manner. This does not mean a person needs to know how to fix a repeater or program a controller. We have members, who make trips to the hilltops to work on towers, paint buildings, repair roofs, etc. There are others who are active in ARRL field support, RACES, ARES, communications support for public events, etc. We like people who are active, can regularly attend our monthly meetings, and are willing to pitch in when the need arises.

Joining our club solely for the purpose of using the repeater network would probably be a disappointment to most people. Those who listen to our repeaters will find they are very quiet. We use them, but not on a daily basis for rag chewing.

If you are interested in joining, get to know somebody - - see our membership list. Scan our frequencies. Learn what we're about. Your sponsor is required to submit your application to the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors will interview you. The final step is a secret ballot at the following monthly Membership meeting.

New members are required to pay to a $60 initiation fee. Annual dues are currently $120 and subject to change. Our membership is limited to 60 families.

If this sounds interesting to you, please make the effort to get to know us. We have fun doing what we do and enjoy new people with similar interests.
